Wind Power Explained
With everyone trying to make the world a better place, they are turning to ways in which they can reduce the amount of waste that we make, as well as changing the ways in which power for everything is produced. One of these techniques is the use of wind power in order to power not only homes, but to power cars as well. However, what most people are wondering, is just how is wind power can to work in order to provide the world with power?
Wind power starts with the Sun, thus why many people consider this a form of solar power. When the Sun starts to heat up the surface of the Earth, wind starts to stir in order to cool the surface down. However, even when the Sun is not present during the day, wind still happens, thus why many people are believing that the power that the wind can produce is the best option. The tricky part comes when trying to harness the energy that the wind is producing, otherwise known as the kinetic energy. This process involves a lot of equipment such as wind mills that need to be placed on the coast of areas and in areas in which the wind is fierce in order to work. This is where the first problem with wind power is found. Those that have their homes on the coast, do not want to forfeit their home in order to have wind mills piled onto the land. Plus, many that live on the coast, just do not want these windmills to be the dominant thing that people see when they take a trip to the beach. Plus, it also has to be taken into consideration that the coast is where hurricanes hit the most, thus, it could simply damage these windmills, which is going to mean more money and time going in to replacing the damaged parts.
There has been some successes with wind power, however, it is not a concept that most people want to develop into a real solution. Those that live in the middle of the country wonder if they will even be able to harness wind power since many of those in these areas are between hills or on flat areas that receive little to no wind. Yet another problem that the use of wind power has to overcome.
There is one huge benefit to the use of wind power, it is a renewable source of power since it is harnessed from nature. There is never going to be the chance of running out of wind, however, on those days in which no wind is found, it could be a bit difficult to allow power to go to homes. Thus, there is a real need for a backup power source to power these homes. Which has many people wondering if exerting the brain power and money into developing this type of power really is going to help anyone in the end.
Though it is clear that a new power source needs to be found, the chances of it being found in wind power will only happen when the technology advances so that everyone is satisfied
